How To Apply and Renew IRA License Online, Requirements, Mpesa Paybill and Customer Care Contacts

 Do you want to start an insurance agency business? Do you know what is required for license application. The Insurance Regulatory Authority ( IRA) is responsible for issuing license for Insurance companies and agents.

Insurance agent license application and renewal are done online at the IRA website.

Requirements For IRA License Renewal

• National ID or passport for the applicant/agent
• Professional qualifications including COP or ECOP certificate or higher 
• Certificate of Incorporation or Registration of Business name( corporate agents)
• Proof of payment for registration fees 

How To Apply For The First time

This is the step by step procedure for the online IRA License application: 

• Visit IRA online portal at www.online.ira.go.ke 
• Click on "online services"
• Select "Agents Online Portal"
• Click on " Create an Account "
• Fill the online user profile and attach all the required documents
• Click on " Save profile " to save the account
• Now login as an existing user 
• Select the year of registration e.g 2021
• Insert user name- usual is your ID number or passport number
• Insert your password - usual your ID number or Passport number
• Appon logging into the account- click on " Apply for Registration " 
• To change particulars in your file - click on " Change particulars"
• Applicants are supposed to pay a registration fee of kes 1000
• On successful completion of the application process you can track your license by Clicking on " Track status"
• You can view , download and print your license by clicking on " View license"

How To Apply for Renewal 

Login to the online portal 

Click on "License Renewal" 

Pay renewal fees of kes 1000 

Download your license if ready.

The application fee can be payed by MPESA through Paybill: 830300 and put your IRA registration number as the account number. Make sure your enter the MPESA transaction Reference Number at the online portal appropriately.
