Requirements For The Loan

What is required to receive a iPesa loan?
Requirements are simple - all you need to apply is your Safaricom phone number, National ID and answering few questions. Ipesa will also request access to the data on your phone in order determine your eligibility.

What interest rate does iPesa charge?

Interest rates are determined by a number of factors, including your repayment history with iPesa and the cost of lending for us. Depending on these factors, the origination fee is charged 15% for a term of 14 days.The app charges an APR of between 36% to 72% p.a.
Borrowers are required to cover any mobile money transaction fees, such as M-PESA charges, associated with repaying the loan. Standard SMS and data charges by your mobile carrier may apply.

Repayment

1.How to  repay iPesa loan via M-PESA Paybill
iPesa paybill number is 192010. To make a repayment with M-PESA, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to MPesa in your Safaricom menu on your phone
2. Select Lipa na M-PESA
3. Choose the Paybill option
4. Enter the Paybill number 192010
5. For account number, enter your MPesa number on which you received your iPesa loan
6. Enter your repayment amount
7. Enter your M-PESA pin
8. Confirm that all details are correct and press “OK”.

Late Repayment and CRB Listing

1.What will happen if I pay my loan late?
Late loan repayments automatically incur a fee of 2% per day. It is therefore advised that one does not exceed the due date.
Repay the loan by its due date allows you to access larger loan sizes. Late repayments will affect your ability to get subsequent or larger loans.
If you are very late on your payments, Ipesa  report to the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB). Blacklisting by the CRB may affect your ability to borrow from other lenders.

How can I get my batch number?

If your account has been cleared with the CRB, please message customer care to receive the batch numbers for Metropol and TransUnion to follow up on your certificate.
