eCitizen is the Kenyan Government Official Digital platform that enables Kenyan citizens, residents and visitors access and pay for Government services online. The services provided include:
  • Immigration services
  • Driving services (ntsa)
  • Business Services
  • Land Services
  • Marriages
  • Security Services (DCI/CID)
  • KRA Services
  • Civil Registration Services among other services

How To Create an eCitizen account

One has to create an account to be able to access the services provided, however for this post am going to outline on how to create an account as an ordinary Kenyan citizen as follows:
  • On your browser go to
  • Click on "Create Account"
  • Select account type I.e Kenyan citizen, Foreign Residents, eBusiness or eVisa
  • Select on "Create Account" for Kenyan citizen
  • A registration page will appear
  • Enter your ID number
  • Enter your first name as per your ID 
  • Click on "Validate"
  • Enter your email address
  • Re-enter your email address
  • Enter your Mobile number
  • Enter your password of your choice
  • Re-enter your password
  • Click on "Continue"
  • A verification page will appear
  • Click on "Email" 
  • Enter your email address
  • Click on "send verification mail" - a confirmation link will be sent to your email address , so login to your email and click on the link to verify your email.
  • Click on "Phone" ( phone verification)
  • Enter your mobile number and click on "send verification code" -a verification code will be sent to your mobile number.
  • Enter the verification code and click on "verify"
  • Click on "photo" ( passport size photo)
  • Click on "choose file" to upload your passport photo ( size maximum 500 px by 500 px )
  • Click on " Continue "
Your eCitizen account has now been created and you can now login and access the services provided.

How To Login to the eCitizen account 

After successful creating your eCitizen account, you can now freely login to access the services as follows:
  • On your browser visit 
  • Select Sign in
  • A login page will appear
  • Enter your email address or ID number
  • Enter your password
  • Click on " login " 
  • The eCitizen portal will open for your access

How To Reset eCitizen account password/ Forgot password Reset

Its normal for one to forget their passwords or rather its safe to regularly change your password for security reasons.
This is how to do it: 
  • On your browser visit: 
  • Select Sign in 
  • A login page will appear
  • Click on " Forgot your password? "
  • Enter your email address or ID number
  • Click on "Reset my password"
  • Follow the rest of the simple instructions to reset your password
