For a Teacher to be appointed as a school HeadTeacher or Deputy HeadTeacher by the TSC , must meet the following minimum qualifications and requirements and be ready to take the responsibilities given.

HeadTeacher 

Job Description
This is the lead educator of the school responsible for the provision of leadership in implementation of the curriculum, educational policies and programs.
The HeadTeacher is responsible for all operations of the school.

Qualifications for Appointment

  • Must have served for a minimum period of 3 years as a Deputy HeadTeacher
  • Be serving under career progression guidelines
  • Be currently serving as a Deputy HeadTeacher II TSC scale 9
  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Education or equivalent
  • Have satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal
  • Meet the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya
  • Have demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor and provide professional support to other Teachers

Deputy HeadTeacher

Job Description
The Deputy HeadTeacher will report to the HeadTeacher on the development and implementation of the curriculum, education policies and programs. In absence of the HeadTeacher, the Deputy HeadTeacher will be in charge of the school.

Qualifications for Appointment
  • Must have served as a Senior Teacher for a minimum period of 3 years 
  • Be serving under career progression guidelines
  • Be currently serving as a Senior Teacher I TSC scale 8 
  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Education or equivalent
  • Have satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal
  • Have demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor and provide professional support to other teachers
  • Meet the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the constitution of Kenya.
