By-Election jobs 2019


In preparation for the Ganda County Assembly Ward By-Election which will be held on 17th Oct 2019, the IEBC Malindi Constituency office is inviting applications from qualified individuals for the following temporary job vacancies:

  1. Polling / Counting Clerks 
  2. Voter Educators
  3. Presiding and Deputy Presiding Officers
  4. Support Electoral Trainers


Duties, Qualifications, Requirements and Renumeration for the vacancies are as follows:


1. Polling/Counting Clerks 

Duties
  • Ensure the good conduct of elections in the polling stations as assigned by the Presiding officer
  • Any other duty assigned by the presiding officer
Qualifications and Requirements
  • KCSE mean grade of C-minus and above 
  • Must be of good character and nonpartisan
  • Must be available for the entire period of the By-Election
  • Must be a resident of Ganda County Assembly Ward 
Renumeration
Polling/Counting Clerks will be paid ksh 1,000 per day for the actual number of days worked.

2. Voter Educators 

Duties
  • Facilitate vote education activities in liaison with local stakeholders and relevant authorities.
  • Distribute and disseminate voter education materials in Schools, Churches, Mosque's markets centres and any other convenient places
  • Act as a link between IEBC officials and the community
  • Monitor and evaluate voter education activities by other voter education providers in the ward 
  • Prepare weekly activities reports and submit them to the immediate supervisor/ Returning Officer
  • Any other duty as assigned by the supervisor or Returning officer
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Minimum Diploma in Social sciences/ Project management
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in Voter/ Civic education and social work within the ward 
  • Must be a non-partisan
  • Must be a resident of Ganda ward
  • Proof of having participated in similarly activities before
  • Proven report writing skills
  • Must not engage in any other remunerative activities during that period
Renumeration
Voter educators will be paid ksh 1,500 per day for the actual number of days worked 


3. Presiding and Deputy Presiding Officers (POs and DPOs)

Duties
  • Conduct training on Polling, Counting and tallying processes to the Clerks 
  • Collect and ensure security of all election materials for the By-Election
  • Oversee efficient and effective management of the By-Election before, during and after the By-Election
  • Ensure good conduct of the By-Election for the station assigned
  • Counting, tallying and announcing of results in the polling station.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Be a Kenyan citizen of high integrity and be non-partisan
  • Be a holder of degree/diploma certificate from a recognized institution
  • Be computer literate
  • Have effective communication skills
  • Ability to manage people, sensitive data and materials
  • Have skills in data computation
  • Be available for the entire period of the By-Election
  • Must be a resident of Ganda ward
  • Be aged between 30-55 years of age
Renumeration
Presiding Officers will be paid ksh 2,000 per day for the actual number of days worked 


4. Support Electoral Trainers ( SETs)

Duties
  • Conduct training to the POs, DPOs and Clerks 
  • Collect and ensure security of all election training materials for the Ganda ward By-Election
  • An officer in this level will be deployed as a Presiding officer or Deputy Presiding officer after conducting training of the poll officials
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Be a Kenyan citizen of high integrity and be non-partisan
  • Be a holder of Degree/ Diploma from a recognized institution
  • Be computer literate
  • Have proven and demonstrated training skills 
  • Ability to manage people
  • Should have participated in adult training programs before
  • Be available for the entire period of the By-Election
  • Be a resident of Ganda ward.
Renumeration
SETs will be paid ksh 2,000 per day for the actual number of days worked for.
