Safaricom is looking for a highly motivated, qualified and competent individual for the position of a Big Data Engineer.
Reporting to the HOD Big Data and Business Analytics Department, the engineer will be responsible for designing, building and delivering the Big data platform which will serve as Safaricom source of truth running the company.
Job Qualifications and Requirements
- BSc or MSc in Computer science or equivalent
- At least 2-3 years of coding experience in a non- university setting
- Proficient understanding of distributed computing principles
- Experience in object oriented development
- Experience in collecting, storing, processing and analyzing large volumes of data
- Experience with building streams - processing systems, using solutions such as storm or spark-streaming
- Experience with various messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB
- Understanding big data technologies: Cloudera/MapR/Horton works
