Internships at KEMRI


Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a government institution dealing with all medical research in East Africa.

In its effort to help the government initiative to develop a pool of young talents , the institution provide attachments and internships opportunities to college and university students in its premises every year.

The attachments and internships are intended to provide the youth with real work experience and sharpen their knowledge in practical skills.

The attachments and internships are provided to students from colleges and universities recognized by the government.

Qualifications/Requirements

Students interested with attachments and internships at KEMRI must meet the following;

  • Attachments are provided to students in their final year or year proceeding the final year of study
  • Attachments and internships are taken only once
  • Attachments and internships are provided to students from government recognized institutions only.
  • Attachments are usually done in 3 months 
  • Internships take a duration between one to six months
  • Internships are provided to students 12 months after graduation.
  • A valid letter from the learning institution ( for attachments)
  • An application letter addressed to the Director KEMRI
  • Accident insurance cover 
  • Day time contacts for the applicant.


How To Apply 

Vacancies for attachments and internships are usual advertised on KEMRI website and print media
Intakes for attachments and internships are in the months of January, April , July and October 
Students should fill an application form online and apply.


N/B All attachees and interns are expected to adhere to the KEMRI rules and regulations. 
During the period of engagement, a monthly stipend is provided.
