The company currently have an exciting career opportunity for an Underwriter, General Business reporting to the Assistant Underwriting Manager, General Business with the position being based in Nairobi.

Responsibilities General

To select risks as per Jubilee Insurance Company Kenya underwriting guidelines, Process premium in the underwriting system and issue policy documents within JICK’s agreed benchmarks.

Financial Roles & Responsibilities

1. Ensure adherence to “cash-before-cover” policy and facilitate speedy premium collections in liaison with the Credit Control
team, as per credit authorization terms so as to achieve Board requirements as per authorized plan Operational Responsibilities and resolve complaints/queries from producers, customers and claims appropriately
2. Open and maintain orderly underwriting files per policy
3. Prepare motor and marine certificates and general policy cover notes as requested by customers Provide monthly reconciliation of cover-notes and Motor certificates issued (consumer lines/Branch )
4. Follow-up risk recommendations from survey and claim assessors’ reports
5. Execute delegated signing authority diligently
6. Conduct and maintain records of quarterly underwriting file reviews and audits
7. Monitor various SLA performance matrix for respective operational units
8. Preparation of policy documents and endorsements as per set service standards
9. Production of Debit and Credit notes as per set standards
10. Escalate issues/bottlenecks, if any, to CSG HO supervisor in a timely manner
11. Ensure agreed processes are strictly adhered to, including recording of dates for processing of each transaction (tracking
12. Ensure agreed TAT’s (as per the Service Level agreement) for all transactions handled across all countries are met without
13. Work with supervisor/seniors to ensure there is an ongoing process improvement process in place, supported by IT where
applicable, to help generate additional efficiencies & further shorten TATs to the minimum level. Monitor and report efficiency improvement measures implemented.
