Scholarships for Kenyan students from Hungary Government

Through the Ministry of Education , The Government of Hungary has the following offer to Kenyan students:

The Government of Hungary has offered One Hundred (100) scholarships to eligible Kenyans in undergraduate, One-Tier Masters (OTM), Masters and PhD studies. The areas of study are open but must be available in the Hungarian Universities (candidates are asked to visit the website: and choose the available programmes and host institutions before applying.

NB: One-Tier Masters (OTM) covers both Bachelor and the Master levels. It is specific for General Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Architecture, Law, Veterinary Surgery, Forestry
Engineering etc.


A. Undergraduate

Applicants should:
a) Have Minimum KCSE Mean Grade of B (plain).
b) Not more than 23 years of age.
c) Grade “B” in core subjects in the preferred field of study.
d) Completed Secondary Education within the last three (3) years.
e) Have original KCSE certificate.

B. Masters

Applicants should:
i. Be serving the country in the public sector.
ii. Completed at least two (2) years of continuous public service since their last degree
iii. Graduated with a relevant Bachelor’s degree of at least Upper Second Class Honors level.
iv. Be below 35 years of age.

C. PhD

Applicants should:
i. Be serving the country in the public sector.
ii. Completed at least two (2) years of continuous public service since their last degree studies.
iii. Have a relevant Master’s Degree.
iv. Are below forty-five (45) years of age.

How To Apply

1. All applicants must apply using the Ministry of Education preliminary application form which is obtainable from the Ministry of Education offices at Telposta Towers, 27th floor

After registration, the applicants are able to access the application surface and upload the required documents. Please note that no application will be accepted without the online submission. 4. Candidates for postgraduate courses should submit their application forms through their Heads of Departments.

5. The Ministry’s preliminary completed application form and a copy of the online application form with certified photocopies of ID, academic/professional certificates, transcripts, Birth Certificate, other testimonials and a proposal/study plan in the area of study (for PhD study only ), should be sent to:

Important information

  • Only shortlisted applicants (who shall be informed by email or phone call from only phone number 0771842051 shall be invited for interview
  • The preliminary and online application forms should reach the Ministry not later than Wednesday, 16th January, 2019 by 5pm.
  •  The deadline for submission of the complete application package of online application to the Tempus Public Foundation is 15th January 2019 – noon (until 12.00 pm Central European Time).
  • The Ministry of Education is the designated Agent for the Hungary Government scholarships. It is mandatory for all interested applicants to go through the Ministry’s preliminary selection process.
  •  Preference for nominations at postgraduate level will be given to teaching staff Kenyan Public Universities and University Constituent Colleges. Teaching staff in these institutions are highly encouraged to apply.
