The following vacancies are open for applications at the County Government of Meru before 5th Oct 2018.



Requirements for Appointment 

(a) Be a Kenyan citizen.
(b) Hold a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) Degree from a recognized institution.
(c) Be registered and retained by Kenya Veterinary Board.
(d) Must have successfully completed internship programme of two years.

 Job Description

(a) Undertaking disease control activities such as disease search, vaccination and enforcement of livestock movement regulations.
(b) Participating in the training of stakeholders in vector control programmes.
(c) Treating sick animals.
(d) Advising on good veterinary practices.
(e) Collecting data and preparing reports on animal health, products and markets.
(f) Providing advice on animal breeding and welfare.
(g) Undertaking post-mortem examination and other diagnostic tests.
(h) Answerable to the County Director of Veterinary Services


Requirements for Appointment

(a) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Animal Science, Animal Production, Food Science and Technology, Agribusiness, Range Management, Natural Resource management ,Livestock/Agricultural Economics and Dairy Technology from a recognized institution.
(b) Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.

Job Description

(a) Participating in organizing technical workshops, seminars and agricultural shows
(b) Guiding the preparation of technical the preparation of technical papers and reports for professional forums
(c) Maintaining the livestock database
(d) Coordinating range planning, management and conservation
(e) Ensuring provision of holding grounds services to the livestock traders
(f) Providing technical advice and information in animal production, livestock marketing, range management, apiculture and ranching.
(g) Promoting economic livestock farming
(h) Organizing extension activities which include field days, field demonstrations, FFSs and farm visits.
(i) Participating in collaborative research activities
(j) Analyzing livestock inputs and product samples
Disseminating livestock production technologies such as construction of livestock housing and structures, milk production, pasture and fodder production and conservation, farm planning, gross margin and on farm feed formulation
