DAAD Scholarships for PhD student in East Africa 2019/2020


The German Academic Exchange Service ( DAAD) is offering up to 12 Scholarships to East African students to pursue PhD degrees in German for the academic year 2019/2020.

In addition, in collaboration with the Government of Kenya , DAAD will ofer 30 scholarships to staff members of public and private universities and research institutes in Kenya to pursue PhD degrees in German.

Eligibility

  • Candidates must be from East Africa 
  • Candidates must be holders of Masters degrees not older than 6 years at the time of making the application.
  • The scholarship is open to all fields of research
  • There is no age limit for the Sponsorship
Requirements for Applications
  • Candidates must give a PhD proposal including a detailed work plan (10-15 pages)
  • Confirmation of teaching release ( University staff only)
  • Confirmation of Study leave from university (if applicable)
  • Recommendation letter by the head of Department indicating that the candidate is present responsibilities and he/she will be integrated into the staff development agenda of the university.
