Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) provides both Certificate and diploma courses which are offered through distance learning, school based, full time and part time.

The updated list of certificate and diploma courses   offered at KISE is  as follows:

Certificate Courses

   1. Certificate in Early childhood Development Education (ECDE)
Requirements: A minimum of D+KCSE
Mode of study: School based - 6 sessions

   2. Certificate in Education for learners with cerebral palsy
Requirements: A minimum of teacher training certificate
Mode of study: School based 3 sessions

   3. Certificate in Education for learners with intellectual disability
Requirements : A minimum of teacher training certificate
Mode of study: School based  3 sessions

   4. Certificate in Education for learners with Autism
Requirements: A minimum of teacher training certificate
Mode of study : School based 3 sessions

   5. Certificate in Braille 
Requirements: A minimum of D+plus KCSE
Mode of study: school based 3 sessions

  6. Certificate in Audiology
Requirements: Diploma in special needs education
Mode of study: school based 3 sessions

  7. Certificate in Functional assessment
Requirements: Diploma in special needs education
Mode of study: school based 3 sessions
  8. Certificate in Kenyan Sign Language
Requirements: A minimum of D+plus KCSE
Mode of study: Both school based and full time.

 9. Certificate in Special needs Education (Inclusive Education)
Requirements: A minimum of D+plus KCSE
Mode of study; school based 3 sessions

 10. Certificate in Guidance and Counseling ( SNE)
Requirements: A minimum of D+plus KCSE
Mode : school based - 3 sessions

Diploma Courses

  1. Diploma in Special Education
Requirements: P1 certificate or ECDE KNEC certificate with D+ KCSE.
Mode of study: school based 6sessions and Full time 2 years

  2. Diploma in Early childhood Care Development and Education
Requirements: KCSE C plain
Mode of study - school based 2 years.
