Students registration NCPWD

Students with disabilities are highly encouraged to register with The National Council for Persons With Disabilities (NCPWD) in order to have access to education fund schemes, scholarships, internships and job placement  opportunities.

Many disabled students in Kenya mis gross opportunities that could help them achieve their education and life goals.
Its for this reason that unilada Kenya decided to write this post.

The registration process is done as a group or individual where after successful registration ,members are issued with Persons With Disability (PWD) National Identification Cards which are recognized across all public and private sectors.


Documents Required for Registration

These are the basic documents required before a disabled person is registered;

  • A Certified copy of Birth certificate or ID card
  • A copy of the Medical report comfirming the disability
  • Dully filled NCPWD registration form 
  • A colored passport sized photo.

Important Information required by the NCPWD concerning the disabled person.

  • Full name
  • Sex
  • Date of Birth
  • ID or Birth certificate number
  • Telephone /mobile number for the disabled /parents/guardian
  • Postal address
  • Nationality
  • Nature of the disability
  • Cause of the disability
  • Level of education for the disabled
  • Next of kin Name and contacts

Steps of registration

These are the step by step registration guidelines
  • Obtain a Medical report from the gazzeted hospitals as a proof the disability.
  • Obtain the Disability registration form from the District Gender & Social Development Officer (DGSDO) or county NCPWD offices and dully fill it.
  • Present the dully filled disability registration form together with the medical report and all other documents required; to the DGSDO or County NCPWD officer and wait for ID card.
  • Upon successful registration the individual is given a Persons with Disability (PWD) Identification card, which can be used anywhere in Kenya.
